Carthagena Charity Fish In 2006

News came into the clubhouse that the river had produced a cracking Barbel to Mike Lyddon, which we all came out to see. At 12.04 lb. it was a new PB to Mike and a fish we know is a regular to this stretch of the river, well done mate. Photos done and congratulations handed out, at least some action was coming to those on the river. It was now time to order up some food.

The local pizza shop thought we were having a laugh when the order went through for twenty-four pizzas of mixed varieties and only believed us when we explained what was going on at the lakes. They even sent two lads by car to deliver them to us and it wasn’t long before the hungry lads demolished the pizzas.

Grub time

As usual with this event, the rest of Friday evening was mainly a social in the clubhouse, with the contents of the bar being depleted at an alarming rate. The lakes now totally frozen were devoid of most anglers bar a few who had already gone into a good nights kip, not knowing what fun they would have in the morning trying to get their lines out from under the ice.
